Issue:
A recent project on “breakthrough change” (BTC), whose data collection is complete, focuses on four firms that made large improvement in OHS performance. In that exploratory study, there were no matched, “no-BTC” cases, which could strengthen the interpretation of the results. This study offers that opportunity, as well as an opportunity for data collection of greater depth.
Objectives:
1. To understand why and how firms make breakthrough improvements in their safety performance over time in manufacturing.
2. To identify and understand the factors determining differences in workplace injury rates in manufacturing.
3. To understand the relationship between operational and safety performance in manufacturing firms.
Anticipated Results:
The intended main outcome of the current and proposed BTC projects is to generate actionable knowledge for stakeholders who want to make large improvements in workplace OHS performance
