Issue:
The needs and expectations of Canada’s key stakeholders in occupational health and safety (OHS) are likely not being fully met by the educational and training opportunities currently available. However, no recent study exists that surveys and assesses these opportunities to evaluate the state of affairs and guide efforts at improvement. This research will undertake a detailed environmental scan of curriculum offerings in OHS in Canadian educational institutions, and will assess these offerings in the light of the needs that will be identified by key occupational health and safety stakeholders.
Objectives:
The goal of this study is to provide key stakeholders with an up-to-date, comprehensive and informative survey and analysis of course and program curriculum offerings in the area of OHS at various levels of the Canadian educational system.
Anticipated Results:
It is anticipated that the results of the study will help inform future discussions between occupational health and safety policy makers and educational authorities about curriculum issues.
