“Bringing more than 30 years of experience in Canadian workers’ compensation to his leadership,” says WCB-Alberta Board chair Grace Thostenson, “Trevor’s deep passion for the business comes from his years as a case manager, when he developed a drive to improve the workers’ compensation system, make workplaces safer, and ensure injured workers receive the treatment, support and service they require to recover and return to work, and life.”

Trevor’s career began with 12 years in a variety of roles with the Northwest Territories Workers’ Compensation Board (WSCC). Then after joining WorkSafeBC in 1999, he led teams involved in claims, prevention, assessments, IT and investigations. In his last role as Senior Vice President, Operations, Trevor was responsible for the leadership and direction of WorkSafeBC’s Worker and Employer Services division.

“Working directly with injured workers, their families, employers and health care providers,” Trevor explains, “helped me understand firsthand the importance of the workers’ compensation system, and the challenges its stakeholders face. This experience also sparked a lifelong career dedicated to continually finding new ways to improve the workers’ compensation system, and inspired a strong commitment to collaborating with the many partners who make the system work.”

During his career Trevor also served as chair of various committees for the Association of Workers’ Compensation Boards of Canada.
