The National Collaborating Centre for Environmental Health (NCCEH) has posted information on how workers in personal service establishments can prevent the transmission of monkeypox.
Due to the likelihood of encountering a case of monkeypox being very low, public health is not recommending specific measures for personal services establishments and other public settings.
However, the NCCEH advises that workers in personal service establishments who are in close proximity to clients should be able to recognize symptoms of monkeypox. Services should not be offered to those with open wounds, lesions, or broken skin until they are healed.
The NCCEH provides additional information on infection prevention and control guidance for personal service establishments, including masking and gloves, surface cleaning, waste disposal, and hand hygiene.
