Issue

Pedestrian workers are a subgroup more vulnerable to work-related traffic accidents (WRTAs). This subgroup includes blue collar workers, construction workers, police officers, delivery workers, etc. There is little data on these workers, aside from the fact that they are exposed to a risk of traffic accidents and high levels of stress and insecurity.
This research is funded under a call for proposals launched by the IRSST in 2015 on the prevention of work-related traffic accidents.

Objectives

The researchers will examine the relationships between work environments, situations at risk for traffic accidents and the daily stress levels of pedestrian workers.
This study should provide insight into the determinants and circumstances of WRTAs involving pedestrians and propose improvements, primarily concerning work organization.

Anticipated Results

Following this study, employers and pedestrian workers will have access to data and findings that could be used for training and prevention purposes.
