Issue:

WorkSafeNB has collected six years of survey data on safety behaviours in 100 workplaces identified as poor safety performers. This research will examine this data together with claims data to see what factors contribute to higher injury rates. The programs used by these workplaces to implement health and safety precautions will also be examined. Once the factors that contribute to high injury rates and poor health and safety standards are identified, interventions can be created or proposed to lower injury rates on the job sites.

Objectives:

This study seeks to understand the relationship between specific safety behaviours and safety outcomes, as measured by injury claims, frequency and severity. The objective of this project is to answer two questions:
1. What relationship(s) exist between safety behaviours and injury outcomes?
2. Which behavioural changes yield the largest improvement in safety outcomes?
