The Association of Workers’ Compensation Boards of Canada (AWCBC) participated in CCOHS Forum 2026: The Changing World of Work, held October 28–29 in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Hosted by the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety, the Forum brought together participants from across Canada to explore emerging workplace challenges and approaches to protecting workers.
Representing AWCBC, CEO Janet MacEachern delivered a presentation titled “The Changing Nature of Work: National Injury Trends and Emerging Risks Across Canada.” Her session examined national injury trends and emerging risks, bringing a workers’ compensation perspective to discussions about evidence-informed prevention.
Understanding how workplace injuries and risks are changing is essential to identifying prevention priorities. National data can help employers, policymakers and health and safety professionals recognize patterns, ask better questions and focus their efforts where they can make a difference.
AWCBC’s participation reflected its commitment to sharing knowledge and connecting perspectives across Canada’s workers’ compensation community. The Forum provided an opportunity to contribute national insights to broader conversations about safer workplaces and improved outcomes for workers and employers.
Through collaboration and the exchange of evidence, AWCBC continues to support a shared understanding of the challenges facing Canada’s workplaces and the opportunities to address them.
