On May 5 and 6, the Association of Workers’ Compensation Boards of Canada (AWCBC) held its yearly committee meetings in Toronto, bringing together more than 70 members representing workers’ compensation organizations from jurisdictions across Canada.

The two-day event provided an important opportunity for committee members to connect, collaborate, and engage in meaningful discussions on shared priorities and emerging initiatives. The meetings also welcomed several new committee members, fostering valuable networking opportunities and strengthening interjurisdictional relationships across the Canadian workers’ compensation community.

A key focus of the meetings was the establishment of mandates and priorities for AWCBC’s newly structured committee framework, designed to support strategic collaboration and operational excellence across member organizations.

Throughout the sessions, members discussed committee objectives, strategic directions, and opportunities to enhance collaboration and information sharing among jurisdictions.

The meetings also included the election of chairs and co-chairs for vacant leadership positions within the committees. These appointments will help guide the committees’ work and support the advancement of AWCBC’s strategic priorities in the years ahead.

The Toronto meeting marked an important step in strengthening coordination and engagement among AWCBC members, while reinforcing the organization’s commitment to collaboration, innovation, and excellence in workers’ compensation systems across Canada.
