HALIFAX, NS - Driven by a commitment to empower employees to deliver exceptional service in an environment built on connectivity and collaboration, WCB Nova Scotia is relocating its head office to 137 Venture Run, Dartmouth this fall after 50 years in Halifax’s south end.

The new Dartmouth location provides better accessibility, more free parking, and enhanced technology for virtual services—allowing WCB to deliver better service to injured workers and employers located throughout Nova Scotia.

“The south end Halifax location reflects the WCB that once was, but we’re doing things differently and our space needs to reflect that,” shares WCB CEO Karen Adams. “When Nova Scotians need to see us in person, they will no longer have to fight against downtown traffic or parking to get to us – they can access us easily from Dartmouth or continue to connect with us virtually as many of them already do.”

Adams says owning a major piece of real estate in Halifax’s south end simply no longer makes sense for the future based on today’s real estate market, renovation costs, and the planning and development environment.

The current owned-and-occupied building on South St. needs millions of dollars in renovations and is likely to be surrounded by significant development in the future. That value is better invested in protecting Nova Scotia’s workers and employers from the impact of injury.

“We are convinced that there is a better use for this prime property,” adds Adams.

Other relocation factors include a significant decrease in foot traffic year-over-year and an increase in virtual service that make a downtown location unnecessary.

The new space is move-in ready, therefore there is minimal disruption expected to WCB service.

The WCB Cape Breton office will remain at 404 Charlotte St., Sydney.
