November 15, 2024 (Winnipeg) - The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) of Manitoba is pleased to announce the appointment of Catherine Skinner as President and CEO effective immediately. Skinner has been serving as the organization's Acting President and CEO since March 2024 and has played a crucial role in providing strategic direction and continuity during this period of transition.

"On behalf of the WCB Board of Directors, we are thrilled to officially appoint Catherine Skinner as President and CEO,” said Chair Colin S. Robinson. "Since taking on the role of Acting President and CEO, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership, successfully guiding the WCB through a time of change and positioning the organization for long-term success. We are confident that her vision and leadership will continue to benefit the WCB and all Manitobans."

Skinner brings 10 years of experience working with the WCB, having previously served in senior leadership positions, including Vice President of Legal, Compliance and Corporate Services for the past five years. She has practiced law in Ontario and Manitoba for over 20 years, specializing primarily in administrative, statutory and insurance law.

“I’m honoured to officially take on the role of President and CEO, and I’m excited to continue working with our very talented team here at the WCB as we build on the momentum we’ve created in recent months,” said Skinner. “Together, we will continue to provide excellent service to our customers and stakeholders while supporting a safety culture across Manitoba."

The WCB Board of Directors appoints the President and CEO and is comprised of representatives of workers (nominated by the Manitoba Federation of Labour), employers (nominated by the Manitoba Employers Council), of the public interest (appointed by the Province of Manitoba), and a Chair (nominated by the Board of Directors and appointed by the Province of Manitoba).
