Driven by a new Strategic Plan based in accountability and improving value, WCB Nova Scotia has introduced a new service to make it easier for employers, workers, and the general public to report possible non-compliance.

Whether it’s someone receiving benefits when they shouldn’t be, or a workplace avoiding coverage when they should be, those are examples of non-compliance. They hurt the integrity of the system. They cost all of us – and that’s why we want to know about it.

The new dedicated web reporting service – and toll-free number  were introduced at the end of September. Already, just over a week into operation, a number of tips have been received and are under active investigation.

Starting in 2025, the WCB will report on fraud and compliance statistics in its quarterly reports. Convictions for a criminal offence will be listed on the WCB website.

If you are aware of fraud, misrepresentation, or other non-compliance, please tell us about it.

“A sustainable workers’ compensation system is one that takes action when it is being taken advantage of,” says Brad Fraser, the WCB’s VP of Governance and Legal Services. “This new service will help us ensure the resources of our system are protected for those who need them.”
