"We’re thrilled to celebrate the achievements of this year's Small Business Health and Safety Leadership Award winners,” said Rod Cook, Vice President of Workplace Health and Safety Services, WSIB. “These dedicated small business leaders have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to fostering safe and healthy workplaces. Their innovative practices and steadfast dedication not only protect their employees but also set a standard of excellence for others to follow.”

Businesses were judged on their performance in safety culture and leadership, implementation of safety programs or initiatives, communications, and employee involvement in the internal responsibility system.

The gold winner, DESO Construction Limited, set the standard in 2025 by proactively addressing accidental opioid exposure on job sites through deploying naloxone kits and implementing new safety software to store all their training records.
