Every year, on April 28, we gather to remember the Day of Mourning, a day dedicated to honoring those who lost their lives on the job. Workplace injuries and illnesses don’t just affect individuals; they impact families, co-workers, employers, and entire communities.
Sadly, last year, 14 lives were lost in New Brunswick due to workplace incidents. Each incident is a stark reminder that we all play a crucial role in creating safe workplaces.
Our goal is to make New Brunswick the safest place to work.
WorkSafeNB encourages both employers and employees to show their support on Sunday, April 28. Take a moment of silence and, if possible, lower flags to half-mast. On this Day of Mourning, let’s pay our respects to those we’ve lost and renew our commitment to ensuring that every worker returns home safely to their loved ones every day.
