WorkSafeNB is warning New Brunswick employers about aggressive and misleading sales tactics from firms claiming the businesses are not following provincial workplace safety laws.

The agency said it has been alerted to firms that advertise specific services or contact employers directly with suggestions they are non-compliant with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) laws. Some of these firms may use the WorkSafeNB or Government of New Brunswick logo without permission.

“WorkSafeNB reminds New Brunswickers that we have no affiliation with such firms,” the agency said in its notice. Representatives from these companies push unneeded goods and services, it said.

If a workplace must provide training, a WorkSafeNB officer will visit the workplace in person and address the issue, the agency said. The officer will carry official identification.

WorkSafeNB said employers should be cautious when buying or using any services that claim to meet New Brunswick’s occupational health and safety laws. It is up to the employer to verify these services meet provincial requirements.

Examples of products or services the agency flagged include:

  • Health and safety program manuals
  • Templates for procedures
  • Training

If you have any questions about training, WorkSafeNB offers free consultations services. If you need help, email prevention@ws-ts.nb.ca or fill out this form to request our services.
