Issue

Recent data show that many workers, such as welders or aluminum smelter workers, are exposed to high concentrations of unintentionally released nanometric particles (NPs). Gaps remain in many sectors in terms of evaluation and control methods and strategies for nanoparticle exposure.

Objectives

This research will provide an initial overview of occupational exposure to unintentionally released NPs in other Quebec workplaces through a precise characterization of these particles. It will also classify the highest-risk work stations.

Anticipated Results

The researchers will compile data collected after 36 days of sampling, thereby providing a significant and unique database that will help identify the health and safety risks of workers exposed to nanoparticles.
