Charlotetown, PEI, 27 novembre 2024 To support the expansion of psychological injury coverage, the Workers Compensation Board (WCB) of PEI has put in place a Psychological Injuries Team within its Claims and Compensation Division and developed new resources which are now available.

The team and resources were created to support workers, employers, and health care providers in navigating psychological injury claims caused by work-related harassment. The Psychological Injuries Team consists of two Entitlement Officers, two Case Coordinators and one Long-Term Benefits Administrator.

“Expanding psychological injury coverage to include the ones caused by work-related harassment is a critical step toward making sure Island workers feel supported in every aspect of their recovery,” said Allison Wyatt, the WCB’s Director of Claims and Compensation. “Work-related injuries and illnesses are not limited to physical harm, and this change reflects our ongoing commitment to recognizing and addressing the mental health needs of the Island workforce.”

Resources now available include a series of three user-friendly Frequently Asked Questions publications about psychological injuries caused by work-related harassment. Other resources currently in the works include a return-to-work toolkit and a guide of mental health support services. These resources will support workers and employers in successful recovery and return-to-work outcomes.
