WorkSafeNB honours four New Brunswick Safety Stars
We’re pleased to announce the recipients of our2024 Safety Star Awards.
Four awards were presented to leaders who excel in workplace safety at WorkSafeNB’s annual Health and Safety Conference in Fredericton on Friday, Oct. 4.
The 2024 Safety Star recipients are:
- Simpson Building Contractors Ltd.
- J. Smith Excavating
- Darrel Nickerson of J.D. Irving, Limited
- Ian Leavitt of NB Power
An audience of 700 conference attendees recognized the two companies and two individuals for their outstanding commitment to health and safety.

Your unwavering commitment to maintaining healthy and safe workplaces is truly exemplary,” said Tim Petersen, President and CEO of WorkSafeNB. “Safety isn't just a policy—it's a value we all share, and each day, through their dedication, they are helping to make New Brunswick the safest place to work.
WorkSafeNB has been hosting awards to recognize individuals and companies for more than 20 years.
