The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) is seeking two (2) high school students per school to work as a team of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Leaders.Participants can receive up to $800 when they take part in all the program activities!Application deadline: Monday, January 22, 2024.

OHS Leadership Program – What to Expect

- Attending a one-day orientation and training session on Thursday, February 1, 2024. February 1, 2024 is an Administrative Day for high schools, so you will not miss class!
- Attending the WCB’s Workplace Health and Safety Conference on May 9, 2024.. The conference takes place at the Delta Hotel, in downtown Charlottetown.
- Completing all 3 assigned in-school activities and submitting a final report.
- Promoting health and safety to young workers and HAVING FUN!
To apply you must be:
- In Grade 11 or 12
- Good at connecting with other students and coordinating with school staff
- Interested in learning, and helping others to learn, about how to stay safe at work

Focus on Health and Safety – 2023 Youth Video Contest
Do you like making videos? Here’s your chance to win great cash prizes! Create an original video illustrating what youth can do to protect their health and safety at work. We all have a part to play in keeping ourselves and our co-workers healthy and safe. Use your video to demonstrate some of the ways we can do this.
All styles of video are welcome: drama, comedy, documentary, music video, stop-motion, animation — the choice is yours! The best part? Participants with the winning video entry receive a $1,000 prize and their school also receive $1,000.
Applications for the 2023 youth video contest closed March 27, 2023. Please visit this page in February for information on the program for 2024.

Safe Youth Award
Did you know we have a prize for working safely? Check out our Safe Youth Award. Two $500 prizes are given out each summer to youth who demonstrate an understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) principles in their workplace. A prize will be awarded in each of two categories, youth 15 – 19 years of age, and youth 20 – 24 years old.
Youth in both age categories may apply on their own, with an accompanying workplace reference, or may be nominated by someone in the workplace.
