WSCC Defers Upcoming Installment Payments and Waives Legislative Penalties

Yellowknife, NT (September 28, 2023) – The Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) is deferring the upcoming September 30 installment payment and waiving legislative penalties.

Employers expecting to pay their fees on September 30 can now make that payment on October 31, with no legislative penalty being applied for late payment.

Employers pay assessments to fund the compensation system, which provides security of benefits to injured workers. These payments can be made with a one-time payment, or by payment schedule. Employers have a collective liability to cover the cost of the compensation system.

“We know small businesses are feeling the pressure over the last years. The recent wildfires and community evacuations in the Northwest Territories has placed added pressure on them. The WSCC wants to work together with employers to provide support to them while ensuring continued coverage and care for injured workers,” said Harmeet Jagpal, Acting WSCC President & CEO.
