WorkSafeNB and the Government of New Brunswick are seeking public feedback on proposed amendments to New Brunswick’s First Aid Regulation.

The proposed amendments were developed through consultation with stakeholders and first aid training providers in 2021 and aim to harmonize regulations with national standards, including:

  • Record keeping requirements
  • Updating the definition of high hazard work
  • Minimum training requirements
  • Eliminating duplication between sections of the regulation

Richard Blais, WorkSafeNB’s Vice-President of Prevention, said the objectives are to ensure the regulations align with other jurisdictions across Canada, reduce barriers for companies that operate in multiple jurisdictions and, more importantly, improves first aid training.

“We want to ensure the regulations align with other provinces  and reflect current best practices. By doing so, we expect these proposed amendments will not only make workplaces safer, but also make it easier to comply and do business in New Brunswick.”

The review runs until May 30, 2023.
