Manitoba designates every April 28 as the Day of Mourning to honour those who lost their lives as a result of workplace illness and injury. Last year, the province lost 21 people due to work-related causes.

Nova Scotians come together annually on April 28 to remember those who have died or were injured because of a workplace accident or work-related illness, as part of the National Day of Mourning.

April 28 serves as a solemn occasion to remember workers who lost their lives on the job and to reaffirm our collective commitment to creating safer workplaces.

TORONTO, April 28, 2023 – Marking the annual National Day of Mourning, a new poll shows that the majority of Ontarians remain aware of their right to refuse unsafe work while on the job.

We remember the 181 B.C. workers that lost their lives in 2022 On April 28, workers, families, and employers will gather at commemorative ceremonies across the province to honour the 181 B.C. workers who lost their lives last year due to workplace injury and disease.

The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) encourages all Islanders to pay their respects on April 28, the National Day of Mourning, by remembering workers who have died, were injured or became ill from their job.
