Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission Announces New e-Service for Workplace Incident Reporting.

Employers in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut can now report workplace incidents and injuries online through the e-Business service, WSCC Connect.

“The WSCC has been working directly with employers to test this new service and to give hands-on assistance with the transition from fillable forms”, said Debbie Molloy, WSCC President & CEO. “WSCC Connect guides employers through an electronic reporting process that is easier, faster and more secure.”

Reporting requirements under the Workers’ Compensation Acts, Safety Acts and Regulations and Mine Health and Safety Acts and Regulations have not changed.

All employers must report workplace incidents, injuries or dangerous occurrences to the WSCC by fully completing an Employer’s Report of Incident within three business days. Failure to report may result in fines.

In the event of an accident causing serious bodily injury, death or a dangerous occurrence, employers must always call the 24-hour Incident Reporting line at 1-800-661-0792 as soon as is reasonably possible. This is in addition to completing the Employer’s Report of Incident online.

Employer’s Report of Incident joins other services on WSCC Connect, including reporting of unsafe work, requesting a clearance letter, registering your business, getting information on assessment rates and online payment options.
