Government of Newfoundland and Labrador appoints new Chair of WorkplaceNL

The Newfoundland and Labrador Government has appointed John Peddle as Chair of the WorkplaceNL Board of Directors. The appointment is for a three-year term, serving approximately 13,000 injured workers and 19,000 employers. With the announcement the NL Government also extends their gratitude to outgoing Chair Elizabeth Forward for her contributions and service.

“John brings valuable knowledge and expertise that will serve to provide effective governance of the worker’s compensation system in Newfoundland and Labrador, » says The Honourable Sherry Gambin-Walsh, Minister Responsible for WorkplaceNL. « As Minister, I look forward to the important contributions he will make toward ensuring the best possible outcomes for injured workers in our province.”

John has been the President of AMP Associates for over 40 years, providing consulting services to employers, law firms and individuals in the fields of labour relations, human resources, organizational management, compensation and benefits.

John is also the former Executive Director of the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Boards Association. His board experience includes two terms as Chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador Employers’ Council (NLEC), several terms as Chair of the NLEC Labour Relations Committee and over 20 years as Director of the NLEC. Since 2013 John has been a Director of the Victorian Order of Nurses Canada, and is currently Chair of the Pension Committee of the VON.

A member of the WorkplaceNL Board since 2010, John holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Memorial University and is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors’ Director Education Program.
